Michael "Sarge" Thomas Hinrichs Jr.

Staff Sergeant Michael “Sarge” Thomas Hinrichs Jr., passed away at his home on the morning of Thursday, 17 August 2017. He was 37 years old. Beloved husband of Tierney [Ricker] Hinrichs of 3 years. Loving father of Austin Hinrichs, Liam Hinrichs, Ava Sagona, Julian Sagona, Baron Sagona, Rosey Rosebud Sagona, Slade Sagona and Riley Caesar Hinrichs. Son of Michael Hinrichs Sr. and Kathryn [Gauthier] Florane. Brother of Timothy Hinrichs, Nicole [Hinrichs] Fischtziur, and Paige Hinrichs. Also survived by numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Michael was a native and lifelong resident of Jefferson Parish. He graduated from Jesuit High School in 1998. After high school, he attended LSU and proudly served his country in the United States Marines for 9 years. Michael then joined the Louisiana Army National Guard and served a tour in Afghanistan between 2011 and 2012 with the 1086th Transportation Co. #WOLFPACK SCOUT #MISFITS. He transferred to the Washington Artillery Unit Bravo Battery 1/141FA on 11 September 2013 and was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 16 August 2015. Among his many career decorations, Michael received the Combat Action Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Michael’s love for his Brothers was a bond that will never be broken. #OOHRAH Michael began working with Scott Equipment Company in May 2013. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, cook and always enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Michael loved watching his children play sports at the playground and he was so proud of all their accomplishments. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Christian Mass at LEITZ-EAGAN Metairie, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, on Thursday afternoon, 24 August 2017 at 13:00. Visitation will begin at 10:00.
