Michael J. Rooney

Michael J. Rooney entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 31, 2011. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lita Gravois Rooney of 63 years. Loving father of Michael J. Rooney, Jr., Patrick Rooney (Anita), Mary Lee Rooney, Elizabeth Rooney Hart (Eric), and the late Laurie Rooney Stubbs. Proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. Son of the late Marie Louise Ranson Rooney Dorvin and Joseph Rooney. Brother of Edwin Dorvin. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Age 89, a native of New Orleans, LA and a lifelong resident of River Ridge. He was an avid golfer, a member of the River Ridge Lions Club. He retired from the Illinois Central Railroad and Amtrak. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 1908 Short St., Kenner, LA ,on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation from 10:30 am until funeral time. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie. In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred.
