Born on July 7, 1960, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Michelle carried the spirit of the city with her throughout her life. A longtime resident of Metairie, Louisiana, she also treasured her camp in Grand Isle, a place that brought her peace, joy, and comfort. It was her happy place—where time slowed, worries faded, and life felt whole. She loved taking photographs of the sunrises in Grand Isle and rarely missed the opportunity. Michelle was always capturing moments—family, friends, and loved ones—often saying that photographs were her way of staying in touch with her memories.
She shared her life with her devoted husband, Bryan Eugene Munster, her partner since 1992. Together they built a life grounded in love, loyalty, and shared memories. They bonded over their shared love of fishing and live music, especially time spent enjoying performances at Tipitina’s and Jazz Fest, but what brought them the most happiness was spoiling their grandchildren.
Michelle was a proud and loving mother to her only son, Jerry Pool Jr., and a cherished mother-in-law to Emily Pool. She found her deepest joy in being a grandmother to Harper Pool and Sophia Pool. To Harper and Sophia, she was Mawmaw—a name that meant comfort, love, and home.
She is survived by her sister, Wendy Mader, and her brother, Stephen Randall Mader. She was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Sanders Mader, as well as her parents, Audrey Mader Friel and Ashton Mader, and her stepfather, John Friel, Sr.
Those who knew Michelle knew someone who never met a stranger. She made friends everywhere she went, touched countless lives, and consistently put the needs of others before her own. She spent her career in hospitality, a field that suited her perfectly. While she found success in real estate, those who loved her knew the work was simply another way for Michelle to do what she did best—connect with people and make more friends.
She was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church in Grand Isle, where her faith was a guiding light in her life. She loved her faith in God deeply and took special joy in sharing that faith with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday the 22nd of January from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a Catholic service. Michelle will be cremated, and a private burial ceremony will be held at a later date.
Services are entrusted to Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home.
