Mildred “Millie“ Hebert Barrilleaux, 95, entered into eternal rest at her home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. Mrs. Barrilleaux was a native of Franklin, LA, and a longtime resident of Metairie, LA. She is survived by her three sons, Christopher Nissen Barrilleaux (wife, Rhonda), Jonathan Michael Barrilleaux (wife, Michelle), and Darren Patrick Barrilleaux, and her grandchildren, Ian Barrilleaux (wife, Shannon), Simone Barrilleaux-Boivin (husband, Antoine), Nicole Barrilleaux, Francois Barrilleaux, Jordan Barrilleaux, Bailee Barrilleaux, and Garrett Barrilleaux. Great-grandmother of Amelie and Nico Barrilleaux, and Leon Boivin. She was the only child of the late Geneviève “Veva“ Nissen and Freddie Hebert. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Darel Adam Barrilleaux, to whom she remained wholly devoted until her passing. Mrs. Barrilleaux was a homemaker, former telephone operator, and retired secretary for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. She was a lifelong parishioner of Saint Mary Magdalene Church and most recently joined St. Edward the Confessor Church. Mrs. Barrilleaux was an avid reader of romances and mysteries. She read so many, and with such speed, that she had to keep a list of the works she devoured like fried chicken, one of her favorite foods. Anyone who knew Millie also knew that this dish was the one with which she seduced Mr. Barrilleaux on their first date. Whether or not the delicacy had actually been prepared by “Queenie”, a term of endearment coined by the late Mr. Barrilleaux, or by Queenie’s mother, will remain undisclosed. Mrs. Barrilleaux was also very skilled in the sewing arts, and made many intricate quilts, humorous yet complex cross-stitch pictures, and various knitted works for her family and friends. Millie enjoyed parties, dancing Cajun waltzes, country and western music, playing cards, and socializing of any kind, where you could spot her dressed to the nines with her lipstick on and her purse by her side. She was known for her acute curiosity, her probing questions, and for being able to talk a hind leg off a mule. She could recall details about people, places, and pets, no matter how small, at the drop of a hat. Millie rarely kept pithy comments to herself, and will be missed for her unapologetic attitude toward speaking her mind. In the great beyond, as in life, she is probably laughing at the epitaph “Telephone, telegraph, tell Millie”. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Sunday evening, March 7, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday, March 8, 2021 beginning at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel. Graveside service and interment will follow at Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the animal rescue or shelter of your choice in remembrance of Millie and her beloved Yorkie Miss Scarlet.
