Milton James Henry Montgomery, Jr., age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025. ("Mickey/Mick") was born in New Orleans in July 1933 to the proud parents of Milton J. Montgomery, Sr. and Henrietta Rasch Montgomery. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Noel, and two sisters, Alice and Gail, and his first-born son, Paul, sister-in-law Nadia, brother-in-law Hazem, and stepson-in-law, Sonny. He is survived by his loving wife, Wafaa Elwakil, and loved and missed by his children, Mary, Tara (Art), Ursula (Chuck), Paige, Neil, and Lorraine (Rob), step-children, Nellie Mardrigal, Omar Abdelrahman (Rana), and Sharif Abdelrahman, his nine grandchildren, Tony, Michael, Amy, Jeremy, Alex, Ashley, Stella, Layne and Max, four step-grandchildren, Jasenia, Kyran, Amir, and Adam, two great-grandchildren, Harper and Finley, three brothers in law, Abdo, Mohamed, Moustafa, and two sisters in law, Faten, Safaa.
Mick attended St. Mathias Elementary School and graduated high school from Jesuit. Mick was a proud Marine Veteran in the United States Marine Corps and served his country honorably during the Korean War. Semper Fi. He was awarded his Master's Degree from Loyola University in New Orleans. He was the headmaster of Ridgewood Preparatory School on Northline and Pasadena Ave., in Metairie, taught there for over 60 years, and became a "friend to all." He loved and cherished his students, their parents, and their grandparents. He was always so proud of his students' accomplishments throughout his life, knowing that he helped shape their future. He will be dearly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him. He was a friend to all indeed. To God, we belong, and to Him, we will return.
Visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 3:00 until 7:00 PM. Interment will occur the following day, Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 1:30 PM in the Southeast Louisiana Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Dr, Slidell, LA 70460. The family asks that donations be made in his honor to a charity of your choice for schools for the blind or the Bright School for the Deaf, 201 Pasadena Ave., Metairie, LA 70001
