

Molly Merlin Block passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Russell Paul Block and mother of the late Morris Solomon Block. She was also predeceased by her sister Aline Merlin Sterbcow. She is survived by her sister Anna Merlin Melancon and numerous nieces and nephews. Molly graduated from McMain High School and attended Newcomb College. Molly was employed by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers as procurement assistant, contract specialist and community events coordinator for 30 years. Born in New Orleans and a resident of Kenner for 50 years, Molly held leadership positions for numerous civic organizations including president Kenner Lioness Club, president and treasurer Rivertown, U.S.A., president Friends of Rivertown, coordinator and treasurer Italian Heritage Festival, coordinator Twilight at Twelfth Night, and co-chair WYES-TV Auction. Molly was recently appointed to the Kenner Historic District Commission and chosen to represent Kenner in the National Assn. of Professional Woman. Along with her late husband Russell and late son Morris, Molly dedicated herself to making Kenner a better place to live and work. She will be sorely missed by all who were privileged to know her.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM and a service at 11:00 AM.
