Myrle Forsyth Pratt passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 28, 2018. Myrle was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 8, 1936 to Ora McPeake and H.L. Forsyth. Myrle met the love of her life, her husband of almost 60 years, William, while attending the University of California at Berkeley. Their adventurous life together took them many places and their devotion to one another is cherished by all who know and love them. She will be truly missed by her children and grandchildren who hold dear the many wonderful memories made together as a family. Myrle had a special gift of compassion for others and after returning to school to complete a Master’s degree in Social Work from Tulane University, she made a difference in the lives of many individuals and families facing challenges. She had a passion for nature and all of God’s creatures, especially pets Rusty and Flynn. She loved to garden, collect new plants and share seeds.
Myrle is survived by her loving husband, William Pratt, devoted children: Andrew Pratt and his wife Kelly, Mary Pratt Ransom and her husband Jay, Chris Pratt and his wife Jamie, grandchildren: Pearson Pratt, Abigail Pratt, Taylor Ransom, Emily Ransom, Christopher Pratt, Jr., and special blessings Madeline, Sophia and Angelina Cefolia.
Preceded in death and awaiting her joyfully in heaven are parents Ora McPeake and H.L. Forsyth and her most precious youngest daughter Amy Ann Pratt.
Myrle cared for others in many ways but most especially through prayer and cooking for others. She would pray for those who struggled in life and was grateful for the blessings she was given. So, in that spirit, in lieu of flowers a donation to Second Harvest Food Bank, New Orleans, La. would carry on her legacy of caring for others in their time of need.
The family would like to give special thanks to the compassionate care from everyone at North Oaks Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Thursday, July 5, 2018 beginning at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The online guestbook is available at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
