Nicholas Anthony Samich

Nicholas “Nick” Anthony Samich, 60, a native of Huntington Station, NY and resident of Metairie, LA, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, after a 2 year battle with cancer. He is a graduate of Greenlawn High School and Wilson Tech. He was a certified mechanic, commercial driver and jack-of-all trades. He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, carpentry and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by the love of his life, Miriam Labat Finley; sons Clayton and Brett; daughter, Katie; sister, Midge Havins and husband, Keith; nephews, Joshua and Matthew Havins; close cousins, Jeanne Minarik and husband, Bob; Phil Biancamano and wife Roberta; nephew Phily Biancamano and wife Erin; nephews Frank and David Kull; God-daughter and niece April Hillard and husband TJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Teresa Samich and nephew, Sam Havins. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 2-4pm at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie, LA. A Catholic Funeral Mass will follow at 4pm.
