

Peter “Pete” Bouloucon of Destrehan, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on September 26, 1935, he was the son of the late Constantine and Blanche Bouloucon. He spent his childhood in Ottawa and graduated from McGill University in Montreal in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduating, he went to work for Dow Chemical in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada for two years before returning to school to earn his masters and doctoral degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1964. Following graduation, he joined Cyanamid of Canada in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. In 1968, he transferred to Cyanamid’s corporate headquarters in Wayne, NJ. He was granted a 9-month leave in 1978 to be a visiting professor in the Chemical Engineering department at the University of Virginia, an opportunity he truly cherished. He returned to Wayne, NJ and continued to work for Cyanamid until the chemical division broke off to form Cytec Industries in 1993. At that time, he relocated to Destrehan, Louisiana and worked for Cytec Industries at their New Orleans Fortier plant, where he was the technical manager of Acrylonitrile. He loved his work and spent his entire 34-year career with Cyanamid/Cytec Industries, retiring in 1998.
Pete enjoyed traveling to many locations around the world and reached his goal of going to all seven continents. He especially loved expedition trips and his favorite adventure was to Antarctica in 2008. An avid photographer, Pete loved capturing the beauty of nature on these trips. Other interests included golf and completing daily crossword puzzles. Being born and raised in Canada, he also loved hockey.
Pete is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn of 60 years. They met while he was in graduate school and were married in October 1965. He is also survived by his two children; Marc, his wife Courtney and their son, Sam of Ocean View, Delaware; Karen of West Milford, NJ and his sister, Marina Fairfield of Brantford, Ontario, Canada.
A private, family service and interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in West Milford, NJ.
