Peter "Ty" Tyrone Ganci

August 13, 1964 – February 12, 2026
Obituary of Peter "Ty" Tyrone Ganci
IN THE CARE OF

Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home

Peter Tyrone “Ty” Ganci, 61, of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on February 12, 2026.

Born on August 13, 1964, to Peter and Barbara Ganci, Tyrone was a strong willed, mischievous, and loving child. Tyrone was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, the city he loved, residing mostly in the Irish Channel. Known to many simply as “Ty,” he worked as a handyman and landscaper, always willing to lend his skills to help someone in need.

Tyrone was a man of many layers — caring, giving, protective, and deeply loving. He was also a fighter with a spirited, sometimes chaotic energy that made life around him anything but dull. He had a passion for reading, rock and roll music, martial arts, and storytelling. He loved cooking, collecting antiques, sipping apple martinis, watching Saints games, and strolling Magazine Street striking up conversations with new friends along the way. Tyrone never knew a stranger; his kindness never wavered. His ability to retain information and numbers was impeccable, never forgetting a phone number or birthday.

Above all, Tyrone loved his family. His greatest joy and achievement were his children and granddaughters, who he boasted about with pride.

He is immensely missed and survived by his loving mother, Barbara Ganci, his children: Peter Ganci (Karla), Felicia Boasso (Walter), Adam Ganci (Kimberly), and Emily Boudreaux; his beloved grandchildren: Adriana, Penelope, and Julietta; his endearing siblings: Kim Mazerat (Moe), Lana Ganci, Debbie Mazerat (Tony), and Perry Ganci, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Ganci.

Tyrone will be remembered for his stories, his strength, and the way he showed up for the people he loved.

A private viewing will be held for his family.

In honor of Tyrone, those who knew him are encouraged to keep his memory alive by sharing the greatest stories he told and the memories you made together.
