Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Roy Simoneaux (Doretha), his twin, James Simoneaux (Joyce), Wilma Simoneaux, Sr., Lucy Simoneaux, O.S.B, Evelyn Simoneaux Stamps (Hugh), Ethel Mae Simoneaux, and Marie Therese Simoneaux; a brother-in-law, Robert Francis; a son-in-law, Scott Brashear, and two grandchildren, Hayleigh Brashear and Lynnsey Simoneaux.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Carolyn Mills Simoneaux; two siblings, Katherine Simoneaux (Huey) and Mary Simoneaux Francis and his children, Hal Simoneaux (Susan), Beth Brashear, Steve Simoneaux (Betsy) and Mike Simoneaux (Tracey).
Affectionately known as Papere, there is no deeper love than he shared with his family, especially his grandchildren: Philip (Caroline), Lauren (Amari), Travis (Jeannette), Anna Lisa, Steven, Jr. (Julie), Jamie (Anthony), Cody (Nicole), Chris (Casey) and Garrett,
and great-grandchildren: Stone, Beckett, Felix, Tate, Tucker, Will, Coleman, Finley, Harper, Carter, Braston, Jonathan, Noah and Dax.
He loved them and was adored by them. He also had a special place in his heart for his numerous nieces and nephews.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He had a successful career in business, holding several titles including VP and board member of Chartres Corp. During his retirement, he began working at the New Orleans Fairgrounds which he did for over 20 years. He enjoyed greeting arrivals to the clubhouse level with his gracious and warm smile.
As a profoundly devout Catholic, he believed in thanking God for all the many blessings bestowed upon him. His giving heart was on continuous display as he supported all his family members in need. He was generous toward those less fortunate in life.
Next to his love of family, his motto was “you should work hard and play harder”. This was fully displayed as an avid golfer and Cajun French speaking LSU fan.
