Philip Bernard Blanchard, Jr. (Sonny) was called home to be with Jesus on June 7, 2026, at 8:38 am. Philip was born January 28, 1938, to Philip Bernard Blanchard, Sr. and Sara Brocato Blanchard. He graduated from Holy Cross High School. After serving in the U.S. Merchant Marines, he met the love of his life, Gail Marie Plauche. They married on November 16, 1957. Philip was a very successful self-employed electrician in the New Orleans/Metairie area for many years before his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Angela Merici Church in Metairie.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gail Blanchard and four children: Bernard Blanchard (Sandra), Brigette Brackeen (Bob), Barbara Garcia (Joe) and Brett Blanchard (Alisa). He is also the Papa of 11 grandchildren: Amanda, Rebecca, Kyle, Andrew, Tori, Noah, Brad, Blake, Brandon, Briana, Joey and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at St. Angela Merici Church, 835 Melody Dr., Metairie, LA 70002 on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
