Phil was preceded in death by his father, Philip L. Scheurer Jr.; his mother, Jackie Guillory; and his sister, Sylvia S. Smith, who surely welcomed him home with open arms.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy, who was the love of his life and the center of his world; his cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, and Bryce Wetwiski; Robert and Nicole Wetwiski and Sean and Nicole Wetwiski, whom he loved as his own; his brothers-in-law, George Rizk, Sr. (Marlene) and Michael Rizk (Marilyn); his sisters, Karen S. Couvillon (Milton), Judith E. Scheurer, Rosanne S. Fogg (Doug), Elaine S. Strahan, and Shaleen W. Hughes (John); along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories, laughter, photographs, and love he brought into their lives.
While his passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who knew him, Phil leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service, and unwavering love.
Phil was a hardworking and dedicated man who believed in responsibility, loyalty, and doing a job well. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, carrying the values of discipline, patriotism, and commitment throughout his life. Following his military service, he spent more than 25 years with Lockheed Martin. Even after retirement, Phil enjoyed staying active through part-time work at Academy Sports + Outdoors and a local hardware store.
Phil was a man of strong opinions, a strong will, and an even stronger heart. He never hesitated to tell you exactly what he thought, and those who loved him wouldn't have wanted him any other way. He loved America, loved talking politics, and found great joy in handing unsuspecting waitresses his famous one-million-dollar bills.
For more than 20 years, Phil shared a beautiful life with Kathy. Their love was evident to everyone who knew them and Phil's devotion to her could be seen in everything he did. She was his greatest love, his closest companion, and the person he cherished most.
That same love extended to the entire family. Phil embraced Kathy's children and grandchildren as his own and became a constant presence in their lives. He showed up for birthdays, school events, holidays, and all of life's ordinary moments that ultimately become our most treasured memories.
Phil loved his family, his friends, and the many people whose lives crossed his path. He had a gift for making people laugh, making them feel welcome, and leaving an impression they would never forget.
The family invites all who knew and loved Phil to join them in celebrating a life well lived—a man who loved fiercely, laughed often, showed up faithfully, and will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
