Phyllis Hinton

Phyllis Mabrey Hinton, age 84, passed away on February 13, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Howard E. Hinton. Loving mother of Cynthia Hinton Guillory (Ken) and Julia Hinton LaBarre (Fraisse). Devoted grandmother of Melissa Guillory Weaver (Matthew), Michael Howard Guillory (Melina) and Zachary Mabrey LaBarre. Proud great -grandmother of Paxton Weaver. Sister of Harriet Mabrey Babcock and the late Patricia Mabrey Hester. Daughter of the late Benjamin D. Mabrey and Hattie Greer Mabrey. Also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends. A native of Ashdown, AR and a resident of Metairie for the last 51years.

Mrs. Hinton was an honor graduate of Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia, AR. She was a retired school teacher from T.H. Harris Middle School and was an active member of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hinton will be loved and remembered by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.. Funeral Services will be held at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, 6017 Camphor St., Metairie on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church.
