We are saddened to announce that on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Preston W. Mayeaux peacefully passed away at his home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 72. Preston was born on September 20, 1951. He leaves behind a loving son, Shane Mayeaux, a daughter, Kristen Clement Cooke (Mike), a grandson, Blake Silva who affectionately called him "Poppy" and his former devoted wife, Barbara D. Mayeaux.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lester Mayeaux (Neva) and Zoila Recinos Mayeaux, a brother, Grady Mayeaux (Annette) and a sister, Sandra M. Savoie (Larry). He also leaves behind four loving sisters, Wanda M. Gennaro (James), Sylvia M. Garner (Jim, deceased), Erica M. Todesco (Jerry) and Marye’lu M. Eubanks (Dr. Don, deceased) along with a brother, Marc Mayeaux (Karen, deceased). Preston is also survived by many nieces and nephews plus great nieces and nephews. While we lost our most beloved dad, he had countless friends who considered him to be a brother and will dearly miss him as well as many clients who brought him into their families as one of their own. Preston has been a rock to many.
He was a 1969 graduate of East Jefferson High School, and proudly served our state of Louisiana in the Louisiana Air National Guard 159th Fighter Wing. He carried on the family trade and was a lifelong master carpenter. Among the many moments etched in memory are his sarcastic humor and the joy he experienced while fishing and shrimping with his children and family at his camp on the Isle de Jean Charles in Point-Aux-Chenes, Louisiana. His legacy will live on through the love of his family, friends, and the communities in which he touched.
