Raymond Joseph Spain Sr.

Raymond Joseph Spain, Sr. (08/22/1945-09/22/2016), passed away peacefully at his home. Born in Alexandria, LA. 1963 graduate of Cor Jesu High School. Member of the United States Marine Corps. Joined the New Orleans Fire Department on 09-23-66 and retired as Captain in 1994. Moved to Kenner in 1993. He became an active parishioner of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and received the Order of St. Louis Medal in May, 2011. He was an avid hunter and loved fishing. Beloved Husband of Mary Catalanotto Spain for over 47 years. Father of Regina Spain (Robert) Wurtzel and Raymond Spain, Jr., Grandfather of Sean, Andrew, Noah and Evan Wurtzel. Son of the late Raymond Lamar and Roma Cangelosi Spain., Son-in-law of Frank, Sr. (deceased) and Mary Anselmo Catalanotto. Brother of James Michael Spain, Sr. (deceased), Diane Spain Bourdonnay, Vivian Spain Giardina and Cindy Spain Gonzalez.

Brother-in-law of Donna Zimmer Spain, Charles Bourdonnay, Sr. (deceased), Danny Giardina and Alejandro Gonzalez, Sr. and Steven and Ann Little Catalanotto, Frank Catalanotto, Jr., Vincent Catalanotto, Sr., Anthony and Joann Riggs Catalanotto and Lawrence, Sr. and Leonora Catalanotto Barreca.

Also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Great Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd, Metairie, on Wednesday, September 28, for visitation from 6-9pm, and St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 6500 Kawanee Avenue, Metairie on Thursday, September 29, from 10am-Noon, followed by Noon Funeral Mass.
