

On Saturday, January 24, 2026, Redie Armon, Sr. moved to a new address for his eternal rest. He was surrounded by his devoted wife, Lenora, and his two caregivers, Leslie Johnson and her brother, Richard.
He was born in Morton, MS, on August 10, 1934, to Wesley and Elsie Reid Armon. One year later, a daughter, Louise, was born to this family. In 1951, Redie’s mother moved to New Orleans with her son and daughter.
He married his lovely wife Lenora Ford on May 19, 1961, and 3 sons were born to this union.
At 20 years of age, Redie was employed for 6 months at Adler’s Jewelry Co. He was a gospel singer, an artist, carpenter, and played jazz with James Black. He sang with 2 gospel groups.
Redie applied for an apprenticeship with the New Orleans Roofing Company in 1951 and upon completion, was hired by Favrot Roofing Company until it closed several years later. He was given employment with Carriere-Stumm, Inc. in 1978 and retired in 2000 and was given a trip to the Caribbean Islands.
Redie was a faithful member of the First Pentecostal Church with much participation singing for Pastor John R. Cupit, Bro. Fred Hyde, Pastor Richard Wyser, and the congregation until his health deteriorated. He received the baptism of the Holy Ghost at the March 7, 1982 revival during Monday night’s service and was baptized in the name of Jesus that same night by Pastor Daniel T. Brown.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Lenora Ford Armon; two sons, Redie Armon, Jr. of San Diego, CA, and Sgt. Derek Armon (Kilca) of Ridge Crest, CA; five grandchildren of North Carolina and Highland, CA; nine great-grandchildren of North Carolina and Highland, CA. Two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and their wives, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Redie was preceded in death by his parents, son, Sgt. Terrence E. Armon and his wife, Rosita, one sister, Louise Stokes, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
You chose a new address and left us, but we still love you and you will be missed by all of us. Sleep on and we will meet you one day. Sleep on and take your rest. You lived 91 years!
