Richard Shelby Bourg

On his one-year anniversary, Richard Shelby Bourg is remembered by his loving family. He was born on April 23, 1955, and passed away on December 7, 2023. He was 68. He was the son of the late Oscar J. Bourg and Inez Melancon Bourg and the beloved brother of Peggy Dean (Bobby, deceased) and Joann Shaver. He was the uncle and godfather of Shelby Michael Dean (Ashley) as well as the uncle of Suzanne Shaver, Henry Shaver and the late Catherine Shaver and Melissa Shaver. He was the cousin of Kathleen "Kitty" Primo (Earl, deceased). He is also survived by his cousin's children, Britton (Patrick), Christian and Todd as well as other extended family members and friends.

Richard was a native of the "Irish Channel" in New Orleans and a resident of Metairie. He began his career at the Port of Embarkation and retired after a lengthy employment with the U.S. Postal Service. He lived his life to the fullest, enjoying his love for music, sports and spending time with his family and friends.
