Robert Joseph Guidry, Sr., age 92, passed away in River Ridge, LA on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. He was a native of Gramercy, LA and a resident of River Ridge, LA for 60 years. He was the beloved husband of the late Anne Marie Kliebert Guidry of Vacherie, LA for 61 years. He was the loving father of Linda Guidry Poche (Gilbert) of Waggaman, LA, Brenda Guidry Le Blanc (Gerald) of Avondale, LA, Bradford J. Guidry (Eileen) of Tulsa, OK and the late Robert J. Guidry, Jr. (surviving wife Ora of San Angelo, TX). He was a loving grandfather to Joey Poche (Pam), Karen Poche Woodson (Mark), Julie Le Blanc (Todd), Jerry Le Blanc, Corey Guidry (Sheila), Kyle Guidry, Chris Guidry (Shannon), Jacqueline Guidry-Ulla (Josh), Lauren Guidry (Cameron), Cameron Guidry and Kaleb Starns (Katie). Loving great grandfather to Amanda Craigie (Ryan), Zachary Le Blanc, Kayla Woodson, Kody Woodson (Meridian), Austin Poche, Jaden Guidry, Kylan Guidry, Ethan Guidry, Robert T. Guidry, Leif Guidry-Ulla and Asher Starns. Great great grandfather of Lileigh Woodson. Son of the late Pauline Marie Badeaux Guidry and Ernest John Guidry. Brother of Nolan Guidry of Gramercy, LA and the late Ernest, Maurice (surviving wife Audrey), Thomas Guidry, Beatrice Roussel and Rita Berthelot. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other family members. Mr. Guidry was a very proud veteran of the United States Navy. He served during WWII as a Seaman First Class on board the USS Laffey. He received the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the American Area Medal. He retired as a millwright from American Cyanamid Company and was a parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Church in River Ridge, LA. Mr. Guidry loved working in his garage and helping all his family, relatives, friends and neighbors with many projects. He will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Monday morning, December 17, 2018 beginning at 9:30 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s Chapel.
