Robert Paul Sanchez, Sr.

He is survived by his teenage sweetheart, June Olano, and his children, Robert Paul Sanchez, Jr. (Suz), Sharla Sanchez St. Pe, and Maria Elena Matherne (Timmie). He was a proud “Pop” to his granddaughter, Marissa, and grandsons, Sloan, Kenny, and Gatlin. His legacy of adventure will also be passed down to the great-grandchildren he cherished, especially his favorite caregiver, Parker Ren.
 


Bobby was a resident of Marrero for most of his life. He proudly served in the United States Army, during which time he was a 5th Division champion boxer. He retired from Avondale Shipyard after many years of devoted service.

His calm demeanor, love of sports, travel, and family will be his legacy. He was a devoted son to his mother, Yvonne Cavalier Sanchez, and a loving brother to his seven siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. He is also leaving many cherished nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him!

A Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, LA 70006, on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am, with a Catholic Prayer service to follow in the Leitz-Eagan Chapel at 11:00 am, followed by a military tribute from the United States Army Honor Guard.
