Rodney James Woods

Rodney James Woods, age 68, of Killona, LA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Rodney was born on June 2, 1957, in Vacherie, LA to Harry L. and Corrine A. Woods. Throughout his life, Rodney was active in public service. He served his country in the United States Army, he was active in community service in high school and as Commissioner for the city of Largo, FL and Commissioner - St. Charles Parish Housing Authority. He was a member of the Lions Club International, President of the Killona Brotherhood, President of the Killona Civic Organization, a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus and served at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville. He also served working and volunteering as a Professional Firefighter for the Des Allemands Fire Department and the Killona Fire Department.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Harry L. Woods and Corrine A. Woods; and his brother, Raymond Stipe.

Survivors include his loving daughter, Tara Knowles (Joshua) of Ocean Springs, MS; his siblings, Maxium (Louisa) Woods of Beaumont, TX, Michael Woods (Deddie) of LaPlace, LA, Judy Williams of Killona, LA, Diana Borne of Killona, LA, Gloria Woods of Killona, LA, and Irene Dinvaut of Killona, LA Killona; his grandchildren, Grayson Knowles of Orange, TX, Addilyn Knowles of Ocean Springs, MS, Brynlee Knowles of Ocean Springs, MS. He is also survived by his godchildren, Josiah Morris and Schinell Joseph; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation for Rodney will be held Friday, July 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1 Rectory Lane, Hahnville, LA 70057. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow mass at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft, LA.
