He was born in Leicester, England on April 14, 1944, and lived in Metairie, Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife, Julie R. Swindler and three children, David J. Swindler (Khristine), Laurie E. Daste (Craig) and Alison S. Bourgeois (Corey). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and his sister, Janet Schwieterman (Gary).
He was predeceased by his parents, John R. Swindler and Norah Cox Swindler along with his brother, Alan Swindler.
Roger worked at the US Army Corps of Engineers until the diagnosis of Parkinson's forced him into an early retirement. He enjoyed hiking in the mountains and spending time working on projects around the home.
A private interment will take place in All Saints Mausoleum located in Metairie Cemetery.
