I’m so sorry to hear about Coach Aucoin. He coached me at Sam Barth and DeLaSalle during the 60’s and early 70’s. He was always so kind to me. One of my favorites!

I first met Coach back in 1978, he the grizzled veteran and me the newbie coach. We did a summer basketball camp at St. Christopher School. I learned so much from him, from drills and x's and o's to handling young kids. In fact, some of the drills that I learned from Coach in 1978 I was still using when I retired from coaching basketball in 2013 as the grizzled veteran. May you rest in peace, Coach!

I first met Coach Aucoin when my son, Bobby Schroeder, started DeLaSalle in August, 1994. He had Coach twice as a teacher, for Accounting and for Economics. I am proud to say that my son is now a CPA who has been recognized locally and nationally for his achievements in the field. And I know Coach was a huge factor in him choosing that career and being so successful in it. He was such a wonderful man and our family will remember him always. .

I met Coach Aucoin in my early days of writing for the States-Item. I found him to be a model coach who truly cared about his basketball and baseball players and their development as men and productive athletes. In serving with him on the De La Salle Hall of Fame selection committee I found that he always maintained the school's best interest in his nominations and selections. The schools at which he coached and the sports community were made better by his participation. He is truly missed, but he leaves behind a legacy of respect earned over his many decades.
God love him,

My sympathy to the entire family on your loss. Coach taught me in high school at St. John Prep in the early '70s. Thanks to him, I even know how to score bowling (definitely, a lost art). He and I also taught together at De La Salle where we could share memories of our younger days together.
