Ronald Anthony Scallan

Ronald Anthony Scallan passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in New Orleans, LA at the age of 79. Ronald was born in New Orleans, LA, resided in Chalmette, LA for 20 years, and resided in Slidell, LA for the past 2 years. He graduated from Warren Easton High School in 1960. He joined the US Navy in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1965. He retired from Waldemar S. Nelson in 2001 after 38 years of service.

Ronald cherished the time he spent with family, friends and his loyal dog Sophie. He never met a stranger and befriended everyone he met. He took pleasure in lending his time and knowledge to help those in need. He always enjoyed working with his hands and was truly a jack-of-all-trades.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Irene Thibodeaux Scallan and Sylvain A. Scallan; his brother, Tony S. Scallan and his first wife, Lynn Calcagno Scallan. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Eckelmann Scallan; his loving daughters, Toni Lynn S. Pelaez (Pelayo) and Rhonda S. Sawaya (David); his sisters, Carolyn S. Wood (the late Harold), Sylvia S. Worthington (Robert) and Judith Scallan; his six grandchildren, Ryan Pelaez, Jeremy Sawaya (Kate), Madeline S. Toler (Austin), Sean Sawaya, Sarah Sawaya and David Sawaya III; his stepsons, Alan Wells (Lorie) and Timothy Wells (Jeannie) and also survived by nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel. Interment will be in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3, New Orleans, LA. Masks are mandatory when attending services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
