Royal Chip Charlie Charles Johnson

Royal “Chip, Charlie” Charles Johnson, son of the late Richard and Marie Johnson, born January 9, 1943 in Tulsa, OK died peacefully on September 4, 2012 in Houston, TX with family at his side. He is survived by his wife Linda Marshall Johnson, their son, Christopher Adam Johnson and daughter, Elizabeth Marie Johnson Hill, grandchildren, Matthew, Chase, Tabitha and Fiona. He is also survived by two brothers, Dr. Michael T. Johnson (Georgene) of Biloxi, MS and Bruce E. Johnson of Algiers, LA, his mother and father-in-law, Russell and Betty Marshall, sister-in-law, Vickie Ann Orand, brother-in-law Kevin Scott Marshall, nephews, Michael T. Johnson II (Angelique), Matthew T. Johnson (Anne), Marcus T. Johnson (Lauren), Christopher M. Marshall and nieces, Michelle T. Kraus (Andrew) and Jennifer L. Bonstaff. He is also survived by great nephews and nieces.

After Charles was discharged from the Army in 1964, he settled in New Orleans. Working in the downtown parking business for a number of years and as one of the past presidents of the French Quarter Festival, he loved promoting the city for what it had to offer to visitors and residents alike. He had a very strong faith and was involved with a number of Lutheran Churches in the New Orleans area. Charles was also the director of the Holy Madness Clown Troupe, a Christian Clown Ministry which conducted the entire church service in mime. Since his illness, he especially missed going to church on Sunday. His favorite pastime was fishing. He loved sitting quietly, wetting his line and waiting patiently for the fish to bite.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 6:00pm until 9:00 pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA. A service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1001 W. Esplanade Avenue, Kenner, LA at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. Visitation at the church from 10:00 am until service.
