Rubye Alice Jung

Rubye Alice Barbre Jung, “Mimi,” passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2013 at the age of 87. She is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Frederick C. Jung, Jr.; daughters Stephenie Pittman, and Roberta (Robin) McMahon and her husband Don. She is survived by five grandchildren: Todd Pittman and his wife Amanda, Ridgely Myers and her husband Adam, Jennifer Clayburn and her husband Ryan, John Vinson III, and Jason Vinson and seven great grandchildren. Mimi is preceded in death by her parents, Rubye and Stephen J. Barbre and her sister, Neva Lou Casteix.

Mimi worked for the Federal Government many years, retiring in 1982. She was also a member of several genealogical organizations including the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Order of Magna Charter Dames and Daughters of the American Colonists. Rocking on the front porch of their country home was one of Mimi’s favorite pastimes, as well as spending time with her parrot Paco and cat Skylar.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Poydras Home for the love and support shown to Mimi while in their care. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 12:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
