

Russell “Rusty” C. Rodriguez, Sr. entered peacefully into The Joy of the Lord on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 7:14PM at home with his family after a nearly yearlong battle with cancer. Rusty was born in New Orleans on July 08, 1947 to the late Alphonse and Lucille (Achee) Rodriguez, the 7th of 8 children and the youngest boy. He was 74 years old. Rusty is survived by his wife of nearly 43 years, Lana, and one son, Russell, Jr. He is preceded in death by his eldest brother, Leo Rodriguez, and his surviving siblings are Joan Lucio, Robert “Bobby” Rodriguez, Glenda Evans, Suzanne “Sue” Duthu, Allen “Charlie” Rodriguez, Yvonne Dietz, and a host of nieces and nephews. Rusty served honorably in the U.S. Navy in the late sixties and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He was a worshiper at the 6AM Daily Mass at St. Matthew the Apostle in River Ridge for many years and a charter worshiper at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Kenner. Rusty retired from Entergy Corporation in 2005 after nearly 27 years and spent the last several years as an employee of Home Bank, where he worked as Head Teller. He had a rare work ethic that will be sorely missed. Rusty loved God, family, fishing, and LSU.
Family, friends, members of St. Matthew the Apostle Church, Amazing Love Assembly of God Church, employees of Entergy Corporation and Home Bank are welcome to visit between 10AM and 11AM on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA. Catholic Funeral Mass will begin at 11AM, burial will be held at St. Louis No. 3 in New Orleans, immediately following the services. The family requests that all guests wear masks.
