Shane i can't believe its been over a year you are gone. I think of you often and will miss and love you always!

Shane, it's slowly starting to sink in that this is all real.  You were due back on the boat yesterday and to not see you walk through that galley door really hit home.  The only reason I'm even on this boat is thanks to you and Herb and I will never forget that buddy.  We should be sitting here right now laughing about the crazy times in New Orleans that you showed me.  It's different Shane and it's never gonna be the same out here without you.  You were well on your way in this business and your hard work showed it. My son cried when he learned you were gone. Both he and I will never forget the first day that he met you 5 years ago. Noticing the shirt that you had on, he asked,  "You like Rock Band, too? Without missing a beat, you took the shirt off your back and gave it to my son. That's how you were with every aspect of your life. When I told him you had passed away, he went straight to his closet and gave your shirt to me. He and I are both lucky to have you for a Guardian Angel. I played our favorite song "Possum Kingdom" in your memory. "And I'll promise you I will treat you well, my sweet angel...so help me Jesus"

Its been years since we've talked, but Shane was my "high school sweetheart". I have so many memories with him from the four years we spent together. I am so sorry for his family. He had a great heart, that I'm glad I once had a piece of.

Shane was my best friend for over half my life. He was someone I could always call on for anything. I would do anything for him because I knew he would return the favor someday.
