Sherlean Moore was born on August 17, 1958, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, to her parents the late Kary Charles Moore and her beloved mother, Lula Moore Greer. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the New Orleans VA Medical Center.
At an early age, Sherlean accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Historic Second Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Thomas Nelson Washington. Her spiritual foundation was established through her faith in God and her connection to the church, which is now under the leadership of Pastor Robert Bryant Jackson.
Sherlean received her education in New Orleans, Louisiana, and proudly graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School with the Class of 1977. Following graduation, she made the honorable decision to serve her country by enlisting in the United States Army. Her willingness to serve reflected her courage, dedication, and commitment to something greater than herself.
One of Sherlean's greatest blessings in life came with the birth of her beloved son, Brandon Hendrix, who brought immeasurable joy and love into her world. Becoming a mother was a cherished chapter in her life, and the bond they shared remained a special part of her journey.
Throughout her life, Sherlean was blessed with the love of family and the cherished relationships she shared with those closest to her. She leaves to treasure her precious memories her beloved son, Brandon Hendrix (Donna), and her granddaughters, Camryn Hendrix and Amber Vickroy. Her two brothers, Charles Moore and Eddie Moore; and two sisters, Brenda Moore of Union City, Georgia and Catina Moore (Aaron) of New Orleans, Louisiana. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Sherlean was preceded in death by her beloved father, Kary Charles Moore; her brother, Rickey Moore; her maternal grandparents, Collin and Ruby Wilson; and her paternal grandparents, Provell and Edna Moore.
Although Sherlean's earthly journey has come to an end, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Her life was a testament to faith, family, and service, and her legacy will be cherished for generations to come.
Family and friends are invited to her visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service.
