

Shirley Rosa Jacob, age 88, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025, with family by her side. Born on February 26, 1936, in Plaucheville, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Rosa and Rita Jeansonne Rosa. She was preceded in death by six siblings, three sisters and three brothers and was the last surviving member of the Rosa family. Proud of her Cajun heritage in Avoyelles Parish, she moved from Dupont to New Orleans in 1951 where she met and married her husband of 69 years, Clinton.
"Maw Maw”, as she was known by her family, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her three sons, Clinton Jacob III, Gregory Jacob, and Jeffrey Jacob, and her daughter, Kimberly Jacob DeSopo as well as her nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Shirley was a founding parishioner of St. Clement of Rome parish where she was active in both the church and school organizations. She played a major role as a caregiver for many in her family including siblings, nephews, and her husband in his last months of life. She also loved her Cajun French language, Sunday Fais do-dos and cooking.
Services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. Clement of Rome Church, 4317 Richland Avenue in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in All Saints Mausoleum located in Metairie Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred, or donations may be made to Sister Servants of Mary, 5001 Perlita St., New Orleans, LA 70122.
