Shirley Mitchell

Shirley Nickles Mitchell went to be with her Savior on November 26, 2016. Proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Robert D. Mitchell Jr., and her loving parents Edna and Colonel Elmer Nickles and survived by her four children: Robert D. Mitchell III of San Antonio, TX, Kathy Mitchell Bolton of Fort Worth TX, Wendy Mitchell Hayes of Palmetto, GA, and Kristen Mitchell McKee of San Antonio, TX and by her 9 grandchildren: Matthew Reynaud, Meredith Sims, Cameron Kampen, Fowler Mitchell, Lexie Mitchell, Kevin Reynaud, Camille Mitchell, Griffin Kampen, and Harper McKee and her great grandchild Timothy Reynaud and by her mother in law Martha Sealy Mitchell and brother in law William Fowler Mitchell and step grandchild, James Bolton. Despite being physically and cognitively broken for the last 8 years, Skippy, as she was affectionately known by most, was incredibly giving, forgiving, funny, strong, and perceptive and an amazing inspiration to all who were blessed enough to know her. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services at the Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel, 4747 Veterans Blvd. at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3rd with the Interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery to follow. A Wake will take place the evening before on Friday, December 2nd at Leitz-Eagan from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Gideons International or to the Guidepost Foundation.
