

Sidney J. Lorio, Sr. passed away peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at his home in Metairie, La. He was the son of Emanuel George and Louise Lorio. He was born on June 9, 1923 in Kenner, La.
Sidney was a decorated soldier in the United States Army and served in WWII, in the Sixth Armored Infantry Division. Sidney’s final days of the war was served in Europe. He was awarded the Silver Star Metal and Bronze Star Metal for his valor. The General over his unit pinned the Silver Star on him. After serving his country, he went on to work for Braniff Airlines until his retirement in September, 1982 after serving 36 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanie Barber-Lorio, 98 years old, whom he was married to for 74 years. He is also survived by his only child Sidney Lorio, Jr. (Gloria) of Southlake, Texas, two grandsons, Steven Lorio of Bedford, Texas, and David Lorio of Austin, Texas. Sidney is also survived by his sister-in-law Sarah Barber-Jennings of Nashville, Tennessee, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Sidney was an avid golfer, giving it up at the age of 92.
