

Sylvia Theresa Sietzen Gudan passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday morning, June 13, 2015. She was 82 years old. Beloved wife of the late John A. Gudan. Loving mother of Christine Kelly (Gary), John A. Gudan, D.C. (Carmella), Janet Lesko (Mike), Clint Gudan (Cathy), and the late Darren Gudan. Grandmother of John Gudan III, David Gudan, Sarah Gudan, Nathan Gudan, Hannah Gudan, Justin Lesko, Anthony Bertolino, Cpt. Clint Gudan Jr. (Megan), Ryan Gudan, and Tyler Gudan. Great-grandmother of Jordyn Lesko and Eleanor Gudan. Sister of Marie James, Jean Capps, and the late John Sietzen. Daughter of the late Lawrence and Olivia Sietzen. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sylvia was a native of New Orleans, and has resided in Metairie for the past 56 years. She was a 1951 graduate of Nicholls High School. Sylvia was a Civil War aficionado, fearless adventurer, fabulous tall-tale teller, Egyptologist, animal rights activist, avid reader, passionate Russell Crowe fan, and never met a stranger. She devoted her life to her loving family, was an extremely devoted mother, and even more devoted grandmother. Sylvia's witty presence will be dearly missed. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to Deborah Johnson, who has been a true blessing over the past few months. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial from LEITZ-EAGAN Metairie, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, on Tuesday morning, June 16, 2015 at 11:00. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5:00 until 9:00, and again on Tuesday from 9:00 until 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum within Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans.
