Sylvia Ethel Young Hall

Sylvia Ethel Young Hall passed from our lives on Friday, March 17, 2017. She was 91 years old. Sylvia was a loving wife to her husband, Merrill Souel Hall, Jr., who predeceased her by one-and-one-half years. They had been married 70 years at his passing. Together, they had two children, Eileen Hall Ianetta (Wayne), and Merrill Souel Hall, III, and loved them both dearly and well. Sylvia and Merrill were the proud grandparents of Lauren Aubrie Hall Latimer, Colby James Ianetta, Erin Meredith Hall, and Holly Jennifer Ianetta and great-grandparents to Taylor, Joshua, Emily, Olivia and Avery. Family was the most important part of their lives. Friends were important, too, and Sylvia had many loving friends, from her high school days at McDonogh 35, to her social club days in Geneka, (Greek for “wives”), to her weekly card parties with dear friends, to her carnival club days and nights, especially Niobeans and Babylon. She thoroughly enjoyed the balls, children’s Christmas parties, summer picnics, Saturday night dances, and other times with good and loving friends. Family and friends may gather at St. Agnes Church, 3310 Jefferson Highway, Jefferson, Louisiana 70121 Monday, March 27, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. A Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow immediately at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, #3, 202 City Park Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana.
