Thomas Jude Rigney, 76, passed away peacefully into his eternal life on August 30, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Jeannine Maloz Rigney. Loving father of Thomas Jude Rigney Jr., Margaret “Maggie” Rigney Olivier (Brian) and Patrick McShane Rigney (Amanda). Adored “Pawpaw Tom” of Paige Therese Olivier, Evan Joseph Olivier, Sadie Grace Rigney and Delaney Marie Rigney. Much loved brother of Gerard “Jerry” Rigney (Karen), William “Willie” Patrick Rigney, and Joseph “JoJo” Michael Rigney (Priscilla) and sister-in-law, Shirley Rigney. He is preceded in death by siblings Cornelia “Connie” Rigney Haddican (James), Eugene Wallet Rigney, John “Jack” Marius Rigney, and Angela “Angie” Rigney. Cherished son of the late Dolores “Dolly” Barr Rigney and John McShane “Mack” Rigney. Tommy is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces. Tommy was born and raised in the Irish Channel in New Orleans, LA and he also served in the United States Navy. After he retired from active duty, he worked over 35 years in the Department of the Navy for the United States Government. He was a longtime resident of Metairie, LA and was a parishioner of St. Mary Magdaline Church. He spent the last 2 years of his life as a resident of the Southeast Louisiana Veterans home in Reserve, LA. Tom was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be forever remembered by his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews as a loving presence in their lives as his love for them served as an example of a life dedicated to providing joy, laughter, and happiness to all he encountered. Anyone that met Tommy would do well to imitate his life and dedication to his Catholic faith and to his family. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Tommy’s wake on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home in Metairie, Louisiana with a Funeral Mass beginning at 1:00pm in the chapel.
