Timothy Barlow Curren passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025 in Jefferson, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents Rowena Duffy Curren Richards and John Gerard Curren, Sr., both of New Orleans. He is survived by his son Timothy Barlow Curren, Jr. and his brothers John Gerard Curren, Jr. (Joanne Landrieu), Dennis Patrick Curren (Mary Snellings) and his former wife Elizabeth Blum Curren. Tim is also survived by his loving niece and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Tim attended both LSU and Tulane University and was a proud member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He received his MBA from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business. He was a co-founder of Barlow, Ltd., worked in the business department of Standard Supply, Inc. for many years followed by many years as a financial advisor and planner.
As a retreatant and then a captain of Group 50 at Manresa House of Retreats in Convent, LA he helped men of all ages experience the spiritual exercises of Saint Ignatius Loyola and the serenity of quiet reflection for many years. He volunteered at Bridge House/Grace House as well, never missing an opportunity to offer a helping hand. Volunteering at CASA, Tim helped guide our youngest and most vulnerable as well. Maybe most proudly, beginning August 30, 1989, he was part of a twelve step recovery program learning not only to help himself, but many others over the following years.
A funeral mass will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home on July 2, 2025, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, with a mass following at 11:00. Interment to follow with family and close friends at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemeteries.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Manresa or Bridge House/Grace House.
