Tong was the loving wife of Ted, devoted mother of Jon and Gene Yenari, beloved mother in law of Amy Childress Yenari and Karen Hamad, proud grandmother of Lauren Yenari, Sage Yenari, Nixon Yenari, and Theodore Yenari, and cherished sister of Tong Soon Choi, Tong Ae Landfeld, Jane Salvin, Sinja Bojan, Kwang Ja Buckles, and Tong Hi Lee. She is predeceased by her husband Theodore Touru Yenari, and her parents Kyu Jin Choi and Whak Sil Kim from Korea.
She was born in Korea on January 3, 1933, and moved to the Louisiana at the age of 23. Tong worked as a pharmacist at Schwegmann’s for over 30 years. Tong will always be remembered by friends and family for her strength, her love of family and her inclination to feed anyone who entered her home.
Services are to be held Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at the Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006. Visitation is from 9-11 a.m. followed by a chapel service at 11:00 a.m.
