Toni Jean Montgomery

Toni J. Montgomery passed away quietly at hospice on Saturday, May 12, 2012. Beloved wife of Bill Montgomery. Mother of Karen A. Follmer of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Matthew K. Benedict of Honolulu, HI. Grandmother of Rachel and Aaron Watkins of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Daniel and Jeremy Benedict of Santaquin, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Sherry Alletto and her oldest son, Robert Charles Benedict.

Mrs. Montgomery was raised in Chicago, Illinois and Biloxi, Mississippi. She lived in many places, including Karmiel, Israel but loved living in New Orleans and growing orchids in spite of Katrina. She was known as “the Orchid Lady” of the Crescent City Farmers Market.

A community memorial service will be held from the chapel of THARP-SONTHEIMER FUNERAL HOME, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. at 43rd St., Metairie, LA on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 10:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Cantor Joel Coleman of Temple Sinai will officiate. Interment will be private. Please donate money to Second Harvest Food Bank which was her charity.
