Trini Argueta Munguia, age 92, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 2, 2022, surrounded by her family after battling cancer for the past four years. She was one of 10 children born September 25, 1930 in Olancho, Honduras to the late Victor Manuel Argueta, Sr. and Maria Isabel Reyes de Argueta. She is the sister of Maria Engracia “Gracia” Argueta, Isabel Maria “Chavelita” Argueta, Francisca A. “Ponchita” Vega, and the late Maria Antonia Rubi-Wilson, Evangelista “Eva” Argueta, Guadalupe Argueta, Miguel Angel Argueta, Sr., Manuel Argueta and Victor Manuel Argueta, Jr.
She is the mother of Luis Munguia (Cheryl) and Carlos Munguia (Rebecca). She is the grandmother of Christopher Munguia, Amanda Munguia, Jonathan Olinde, Carrie Munguia, Madeleine Munguia and Maris Munguia.
She was a longtime resident of Metairie and a parishioner of Our Lady of Divine Providence Catholic Church. Trini’s greatest passion was her devotion to her faith. She enjoyed participating in church activities, Bible studies, rosary sessions and special novenas. She took pleasure in traveling and could proudly say that she had visited all seven continents. Cooking her traditional Spanish dishes such as her tamales were cherished by her family. She always enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank East Jefferson General Hospital and Hospice Care for their loving care and support over the past two weeks. Her family also welcomes flowers but also ask you to consider donating to the American Cancer Society in her name.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Our Lady of Divine Providence Church, 1000 N. Starrett Rd. in Metairie, LA. A rosary will recited at 1:00 PM followed by the Funeral Mass at 1:30 PM. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, December 8, 2022, from 6 – 8 PM at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie, LA and on Friday afternoon from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM at the church. Interment will be in St. John Mausoleum in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
