

Trudy lived a life filled with love, kindness, and laughter. She loved dancing, spending time with family and friends, and never passed up an opportunity to have a good time. She found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her gentle spirit, caring heart, and joyful personality touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin Dakin; her grandchild, Devaney Cox; and her great-grandchildren, Malia Smith and Brody Johnson.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Kim Cox (Gary), Pete Giovenco (Denise), and Hope Inman (Johnny).
She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Dustin Smith (Cheryl), Brandon Johnson (Harlie), Devan Cox (Haley), Brock Giovenco (Ashley), Brittany Sullivan (Brandon), Blake Lam (Brittany), Wyatt Evans (Katherine) and Baileigh Evans.
Her greatest treasures were her great-grandchildren: Landin, Kadin and Braya Smith, Liam Johnson, Isabella Cox, Alaina and Addison Giovenco, Braxton and Braylin Sullivan, and Banks and Blakelyn Lam, who brought endless joy and happiness to her life.
Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration.
Visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana 70006, on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass.
A private interment will take place at a later date in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Reserve, LA.
