My husband and I had he honor of meeting  Ms. Verna at St.  Matthew at 4 pm Saturday mass. She was always smiling and welcoming to us.  We miss her and she will ever hold a special place in our heart and in our prayers. Heaven surely gained a beautiful dancing angel.❤️😇

Aunt Verna was the most amazing and kind hearted woman God put on this earth. Her door was always open to everyone and I remember her famous red beans and rice and pork chops on Mondays. You will truly be missed and I am sure my mom and dad are glad to be with you now!!

My sister Verna was an extraordinary women.  There were so many  facets of her winning personality.  She was fun loving, kind, creative, thoughtful, generous and always  protective and there for her family.                                                                                                                                              I often introduced myself as Verna's sister, because it seemed everyone knew her and had been touched by her in some way.  Believe me, she always made a lasting impression,                                             Henry and I miss her so much.  We have such fond memories of our time spent together.  There is a void in our heart that she filled. We loved her dearly and will never forget her.  Much Love, Lou and Henry

Verna was a beloved member of the Harahan Senior Center.  She was the cheerleader for all our seniors.  We will all truly miss her, but know she is partying in Heaven.

I’ve known Verna for seven years.  She was one of the nicest and happiest ladies that I have ever met.  She was so full if life - loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest.  I was on many bus trips to Paragon - always helping out on the bus - always smiling, laughing and simply enjoying herself!!!  She was the life of  the parties that were held at the senior center.  She loved to dance.  I loved you take pictures of her - she wire great costumes!!  I am so glad I knew her and will miss her.  Prayers for her family.  God rest her soul.  

I am so sorry Virginia and Brenda on the loss of your dear Mom. She was such a beautiful woman, so giving and kind. She brought a joy to everyone's life.  I will certainly miss her too. I enjoyed spending Christmas with her and seeing her dance,  enjoying  life. My condolences to the whole family. You are all in my prayers.

There will never be another “Verna”. She was one of a kind. Always a smile and always ready to dance. I’ve known Verna’s sister Lou for a long time and in recent years became friends with Verna through line dancing. I want to be like Verna when I grow up!!! Sweet memories. I am a neighbor at 108  ft knox, and although I did not know her well, I saw her often either gardening at home or at St. Mathew Church.   I know her family was very important to her.  May she Rest in Peace and line dance dressed to the nines in Heaven!!  God bless the family!

I led line dancing at Harahan Senior Center and Verna was in my class for over 8 years. She loved to dance and perform. Whenever we danced at a nursing home, Alario Center or Lafreniere Park or Senior Olympics she was always someone I could count on. And when she did the electric slide she put a hip shake in it we called “Verna’s shake”. We tried to imitate her but couldn’t come close!  She could even get a male in a wheelchair up to dance with her!  Verna also taught us King’s  in the Corner and Spinner Dominoes. We all loved Verna and while we will miss her greatly we will never forget her!

I played Mexican Train with Verna for a long time. She was always bright and cheerful. So vibrant, and so much southern charm. I will miss her.
