Victor Joseph Brady of River Ridge passed away on February 19, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by his family. A New Orleans native and a graduate of St. Aloysius, Vic attended Tulane University and spent the majority of his career with New York Life and, later, Crown Buick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ethel Brady, and his loving wife, Nancy Keenan Brady.
Vic was a voracious reader who truly enjoyed the written word. In his younger years, he and his longtime childhood friend, Paul Rosenfeldt, co-authored a play titled “Georgia, My Idol,” which was performed at their alma mater, Brother Martin (formerly St. Aloysius). Upon his retirement, he was excited to devote more time to writing, completing several stories and a novel called, “Everyone Knows C.J.”
Vic loved to cook the traditional New Orleans dishes he grew up with. He specialized in étouffée, redfish courtbouillon, and "red gravy" spaghetti, and he was always eager to share his secret tips with anyone willing to learn.
Vic also enjoyed his time marching in St. Patrick’s Day parades and socializing at Metairie establishments—especially during Saints games. At one point in his life, he was also known for being a pretty good dart player.
If you knew Vic, you knew he held strong opinions and he loved nothing more than a passionate debate regarding politics and the state of the country. He enjoyed the back and forth volley with anyone.
Vic was intelligent and exceptionally well-read. He truly was, as he liked to say of himself, "a gentleman and a scholar."
He is survived by his son, Michael Brady and his wife, Michelle, of Destrehan and his daughter, Stacey Brady and her husband, John Marty, of New Orleans; his granddaughters, who were his greatest pride, Kayla Brady Suffrin and her husband, Andrew, of Destrehan and Katelyn Brady Monfrey and her husband, Austin, of Luling; and the great-grandchildren he adored, Drew and Parker Suffrin and Hudson Monfrey.
Services: A Rite of Committal and inurnment will be held on Saturday, March 21, at 12:00 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan, LA.
Directly following the service, a celebration of life reception will be held at The Brady Family Big House, 100 Annie Lane, Luling, LA, until 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends of the family are invited and encouraged to visit throughout the day to share food, drinks, and stories in Vic’s honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association in his name.
