Walter Francis Schwander, age 75 of Kenner, LA, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Walter was born in New Orleans, LA on June 21, 1951 to Stella Turcotte and Jacob L. Schwander, Jr. Walter attended St. Aloysius High School and was a part of the first graduating class of Brother Martin High School. Walter was a career salesman throughout the New Orleans area and finished his career with A&L Sales. As a young man, Walter became a member of the Krewe of Thoth and served as president for many years. He was an avid fan of all LSU sports and the Boston Red Sox.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Stella and Jacob Schwander; and his sister, Linda Guastella.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 34 years, Tina Anderson Schwander; his step-children, Scott L'Hoste and Robin L'Hoste LaBorde (Stacey Paul LaBorde), his grandchildren, Perrin L'Hoste, Anderson LaBorde, and Preston L'Hoste; his brother, Jacob Schwander (Susan Schwander); his brother-in-law, Russell Guastella; and his nieces and nephews, Maria Held (Alan), Rosaria Guastella, Frank Guastella (Emily), Melissa Doyle, Amanda Held (Daniel), and Jacob Doyle.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Metairie, LA on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
