Beloved husband of the late Emily Fay Hebert Berner after having shared 50 years of sacred marriage.
Loving father of Cynthia B. Smith, Craig M. Berner, Cheryl A. Berner, and Charlotte C. Berner.
Devoted grandfather of Paul M. Berner, Patrick M. Berner, Trey M. Berner, Aiden W. Berner, Ian M. Smith, Connor J. Smith and Patience Fay Berner.
Brother of the late Claire B. Stentz, Edward “Pete” Berner, and Alice Mae “Sissy” Sawyer.
Son of the late Mabel M. and Edward E. Berner.
Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Berner was a United States Army Korean War Veteran, a retired Pattern Maker with Avondale Shipyard after 17 years of service, a member of the Cajun Canary and Finch Club, enjoyed working with his plants in his greenhouse, woodworking and building bird boxes. He enjoyed a variety of pets and loved to raise and race Homing Pigeons and was an avid Postage Stamp and Doubloon collector. A Parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and he will always be loved and remembered by all who knew him.
Aged 86 years, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Kenner, Louisiana for the past 53 years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass from Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel 4747 Veterans Blvd. Metairie, Louisiana on Friday morning December 13, 2013 at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in Restlawn Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
