Wayne Joseph Ianetta

Wayne Joseph "Poppie" Ianetta, age 72, of Jefferson, LA, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Wayne was born in Amite, LA on May 1, 1953 to Lawrence Ianetta and Laura Mannino Ianetta. Wayne grew up in Gentilly and was a resident of Jefferson parish since 1972. He graduated from Brother Martin High School in 1971. He served the citizens of Kenner, LA as an Officer for the Kenner Police Department and retired after 30 years as a Sergeant. Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He had a passion for music, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the Blue Knights Louisiana II.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Ianetta.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Eileen Hall Ianetta; his mother, Laura Mannino Ianetta; his children, Colby James Ianetta (Danielle) and Holly Jennifer Ianetta Brookins (Shariff); his grandchildren, Taylor Ianetta (Charlee), Joshua Ianetta, Emily Ianetta (Oscar), Olivia Ianetta (Jariel), Avery Ford, Anne-Marie Brookins, and Isabella Brookins; his great grandchildren, Liam Perez and Elliot Ianetta; and his sister, Kathleen Ianetta (Teresa). He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Merrill and Monique Hall, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 1:00PM. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until 1:00PM. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery No. 3, New Orleans, LA.
