Corn, William K “Bill” “Pop” of Metairie passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Passage Hospice at the age of 86. He was born in Ironton Ohio on October 6, 1929. Son of the late Orin Ellis Corn and Sophia Beryl Barnes Corn.
Survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ann Marie Montavon Corn and his three adult children, Barbara (Maurice), Charles and Michael (Michelle). He is also survived by his granddaughter Rachel (Mark) and grandson Jason (Martha) and great grandson Devon. He has a surviving brother John Corn of Ironton, Ohio.
In his youth, he traveled the world while serving in the Army for eight years. He frequently shared fond memories of his time in both Japan and Germany.
Mom and Pop relocated to New Orleans in 1955 to begin his career as a ballroom dance instructor, which he did for over 50 years. He traveled during that time with students to participate in dance competitions in many exciting locations. Pop always felt that dance could make the world a better place.
He had numerous hobbies that gave him pleasure in his later years including gardening, bird and squirrel watching, practicing Tai Chi and yoga. He never lost his love of music. He could dance to any type of music. He loved Jazz Fest and being in the crowd.
An avid Saints fan, he would study the sports page for any news about the team.
Most of all, he loved his dear wife. He will be missed but will live on in all our fond memories.
We would like to thank the staff at Passages Hospice for the care he and we all received during this difficult time.
At William’s request there will be no funeral services.
