William Haspel Jr.

William Haspel Jr., age 87, died on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Touro Infirmary. Beloved father of Dr. Katherine Haspel, Judy Haspel and Dr. Tom Haspel. Grandfather of five and great grandfather of one. He was the son of the late William Haspel Sr. and Odette Grossman Haspel. Brother of the late Jane Haspel Warshauer.

Mr. Haspel was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, a graduate of Newman School and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II serving as a Lt. in the South Pacific. He was president of Haspel Brothers, Inc., a firm that manufactured men’s suits. He was past president of Brectel Golf Club, loved playing golf and his Tuesday night poker game.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 1:00 PM from the Feibelman Chapel of Temple Sinai, 6227 St. Charles Avenue with Rabbi Edward Paul Cohn officiating. Visitation at the chapel from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment in Hebrew Rest Mausoleum. Kindly omit flowers. Memorials are suggested to St. Anna’s Residence or the charity of your choice.
