

William David Montero, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at East Jefferson General Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle from complications secondary to West Nile Virus. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Jean Gainey Montero, his devoted son, William David Montero, Jr. (Lisa), and loving daughter, Tammy Ann Montero. He is also survived by his cherished grandsons, William David Montero III, Brad Joseph Montero, and Christian Noel Moss, as well as step-grandson, Steven Scott Nguyen, great-grandchildren Alexis Lynn Jeppe Montero and Brad Joseph Montero, as well as step-great grandson Caleb Dufrene, his sister, Elaine Odom (Leon), God child, Wanda Miller O'Leary, sisters-in-law, Lotta Michel (Charlie), Ann Ober (Rick), and Jane Maranto (Larry), and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
his parents, August Alexander Montero and Marie Basset Montero, his cherished grandson, Brandon Ray Montero,step grandson, Michael Scott Nguyen, and sister, Barbara Daigrepont. He was a loving, caring, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Montero was born on August 8, 1938 in New Orleans, Louisiana and has been a resident of Metairie, Louisiana for the past 50 years. After retiring from heavy equipment construction/management (U.S. Gypsum and Texas Industries), he joined partnership with his wife in the development of Professional Touch Plus Secretarial Services, acquiring U.S.F.&G. (New Orleans and Boston branches) as their largest client. He was a member of the Local 260 Electrical Union and an avid New Orleans Saints season ticket holder. A devoted and much loved husband, father, grandfather, and great ¬grandfather, he had a deep affection for his country and was proud to be an American, having served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He cherished his yearly visits with his grandchildren to Walt Disney World, owning a family brick leading into his "Magic Kingdom."
Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, and Northrop Grumman Ship Systems are invited to attend a mass at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 1 :00 p.m. Immediate family visitation is from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
