Very saddened to hear this. She and Tom were beloved as professors, colleagues and friends.

My heart is absolutely broken despite knowing death is inevitable. Dr. Agueda G. Ogazon was one of the most wonderful and delightful, compassionate, and caring human being one can ever meet, and the type of person you wish will always be around, but God has a different plan. 

Dr. Ogazon was my friend, mentor, professor, and platonic soulmate. We first met at St. Thomas University in 2006 where Dr. Ogazon was a Professor in the School of Business and School of Education. She eventually became my doctoral dissertation chair, and her dedication and care were most instrumental in getting me through the process. Moreover, Dr. Ogazon was my greatest support, defender, and biggest advocate at the university and throughout the dissertation process. We became friends and despite having graduated and Dr. Ogazon having retired a few years later, we kept contact all these years for over a decade until she passed. Our last communication was in May/June 2021 during which time I sent her a publication dedicated to her and a beautiful song by Cecilia Bartoli... as I know that Dr. Ogazon really loved opera... she always joked about us singing a duet. Dr. Ogazon especially loved the Italian arias, but very few knew this. I attempted to contact her several times in July but never got a reply, and figured she was probably no longer around or not able to use her phone, as even when she was hospitalized or ill at home, she would reply or always text to find out how I was doing. I learned she passed away on July 7, 2021. 

Dr. Ogazon always spoke about her husband, Tomas Ogazon, who was also a professor at St. Thomas University. I am sure that they are united now with her transitioning from this physical realm. Dr. Ogazon was a devoted Christian, a great woman who loved her country of birth, Cuba. She loved people, loved cultures, and she was a great educator. I will always love, remember, and miss Dr. Agueda G. Ogazon!
