Ana aka Lela was my Great Aunt. She was my grandmas sister. I could pretty much say she was like one of my own grandmas. I used to visit her as a kid with my cousin by bike when I would visit in Summer Vacations. She was always welcoming and showed me tons of love. She always offered me food and tried to make me feel super welcome. She was the sweetest!! Lela is one of the head chefs in our family and because of what she did in the kitchen changed our lives, and how we feed our children forever. She had the best croquetas in town. I wish I could have seen her more often in these recent years. We Love you Lela!!! We will miss you... Until we meet again. Besitos!!

Lela, a Montenegro to the core. A wonderful and loving aunt-in-law. A master at Cuban food. Always had a joke or funny story to tell. A soul I will never forget and glad we had her for so long.
Besitos Lela.....forever in our hearts.

My mother in law was a strong and gentle woman. My mother and her met at the airport in 1978 on a trip to Cuba when Terri and I had just met. When she came back I was invited to a delicious dinner at the Farinas house for the 1st time. She always joked that due to HER cooking I married Terri. In reality I fell in love with both of them since Terri didn't cook at ALL!

Although she wasn't successful at teachingTerri how to cook, I did learn a lot from her about Cuban cooking. Some of her receipes will live on through me, my favorite is Boliche which taste very much like hers.

I love you, Tony
